The Chaos Factor
Prologue
For a large part of our lives we struggle, falter, fail and stumble along, and at times come across obstacles that seem insurmountable. I firmly believe that our hardships, disappointments and disillusionments are the very events that ultimately shapes and identifies our true being. There comes a time in a person’s life when what they’ve achieved, or what they’re trying to achieve, becomes static and by and large dispensable in the face of a lost, lonely spirit. When you are spiritually barren, nothing can and will fill that void. We can lie to ourselves, and this we do often and with a straight face, we can try to convince ourselves that all’s well, we can turn a blind eye and a deaf ear, and we can become mute, but there is absolutely no escaping one singular fact, without the recognition of the Grace of God one will never, and can never, be fulfilled; Never be truly at peace; Never quite accept our fate; And under no circumstances will we understand the true meaning of our lives.
I was one of those people. I have been facing stumbling blocks since I was born. I am living proof of God’s love, persistence and patience. I should’ve died when I was a toddler because that was what the doctors told my parents. I could’ve died by my own hand on more than one occasion, but that too was not God’s plan.
It took many years, most of my forty years on earth in fact, before God stopped knocking on my door because I pretended I wasn’t home. The knocking turned into banging and when I still didn’t answer, God decided to kick down my door.
The events I speak about in this book are true. In my infinitesimal wisdom, and with God’s guidance I will reveal the truth as it happened, and tell you what I’ve learnt. It changed my life. Gave me life. I can tell you now with absolute resolution that nothing, but nothing in life is incidental. Nothing. This is not a religious book. It is a book about one man’s journey. The rest of the characters including God, just happens to be part of that journey, part of the experiences and part of my rebirth.
I have stopped wondering and questioning why me, and as my story unfolds the why’s and where to’s will become clear to all, as it has me.
On the 14th of October 1991 a singular incident cemented my belief that there is no God, and I lost what little faith I did have in God. Life became a long dark tunnel, that took me seventeen years to crawl through, before I got back into the light. It is my sincere hope and prayer that for those of you who are lost, or merely existing, that my experience will bring hope and a way forward.
This then is my story.
